Brunch on Saturdays and Sundays should be considered one of the top things to do in DC. With hundreds of options to choose from, it could take years to try every brunch spot. I am more drawn to bottomless options because you get more for the money that you spend, and ultimately have a better time. Here are some of my most favorite bottomless options (either food, drinks, or both) located in the heart of the DC area.
Mission | Dupont
Located in the heart of Dupont, Mission takes the crown for one of my favorite brunch spots in DC. This modern Mexican inspired restaurant offers brunch every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00AM to 4:00PM For 37.99 plus tax, you get one entree, bottomless chips with salsa & guacamole, two hours of bottomless margaritas, mimosas, bloody mary’s, tecates and one tequila shot. What stood out to me about this place is that they bring pitchers of margaritas and mimosas directly to your table so that you don’t have to keep waiting for a refill. My recommended entree would be the brunch bowl.
Masa 14 | 14th Street/Shaw
If you decide to go to brunch when it is warm outside, I would suggest visiting Masa 14. With rooftop seating in addition to its main dining room, Masa 14 can accommodate groups of any size. Their Latin-Asian small plate brunch inspired by Richard Sandoval offered every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00AM to 4:00PM includes 2 hours of bottomless small plates, mimosas (traditional & house special), bellini’s, bloody marys and lemon lager for 39.99 plus tax. I particularly like this brunch because your server will give you the option to either order what you want, or for them to bring out different “courses” how they see fit and then you can re-order what you liked. Masa 14 is an “all hands on deck” restaurant, so the servers will always make sure that your drinks are constantly being refilled. The yuca fries, miso bacon, and Korean fried chicken were my favorite.
Cava Mezze | Capitol Hill
Not to be confused with Cava, Cava Mezze offers a mix of Mediterranean inspired comfort food. Located 2 blocks away from the Eastern Market metro station, from 10:00AM to 3:30PM every Saturday and Sunday you can get unlimited small plates ($35) for two hours plus .25 cent original or grapefruit mimosas. Although these mimosas are .25 cents each, they don’t come in a traditional champagne flute, but in a regular glass so you do get your money worth. You have the option to order up to 6 small plates at a time and they make sure to get your food to you fast so you can try as many options as you want during the full 2 hours. The options that I liked the best were the shrimp & grits, spicy lamb Benedict, and the french toast.
El Centro | Georgetown
Last but certainly not least, is another Mexican inspired completely bottomless brunch located in Georgetown. Every Saturday and Sunday from 10:00AM to 4:00PM, unlimited “small plates,” bottomless mimosas, bloody marys, margaritas, and agua fresco cocktails (would not recommend) are included for $39. Before you get to the table, chips, salsa, and guacamole are already waiting for you. Sometimes the service can be slow, but the servers always make sure that your drinks are refilled and you get what you order. With over 30 options to choose from, the small plates are constantly flowing to your table. My favorites were the chicken flautas, huevos rancheros, plantanos, and churros for dessert.
Till next time!
